Occupational Health Advisor
I started my career as a dental nurse, and I qualified in 1987 at the Royal London hospital. I then undertook my registered general nurse training at Hillingdon, Harefield and Mount Vernon school of nursing.
My claim to fame was the shortest nurse to ever qualify there and the first to be taken on as a qualified nurse to Harefield hospital straight from training. I enjoyed Harefield and did Cardio-thoracic ITU and decided I wanted to look after more well people, so I did complete my Occupational Health diploma and degree at the Royal College of Nursing. Since then I have worked in a variety of areas within the field of OH. I also love to challenge myself, so I am always doing some course or other.
Over the years I qualified as a reflexologist, I ran a successful Chiropody business for 8 years alongside OH, I have completed training as a mindfulness teacher with the Mindfulness Association (I adore going on retreats) and I have almost finished my course as a Hypno- psychotherapist, which uses hypnotherapy alongside psychotherapy. I have found that mindfulness and the Hypno- psychotherapy really helps with mental health issues in the field of OH.
I am married with two lovely sons and my husband wants me to study “something useful “like massage so he can be a volunteer.
I enjoy travelling, good food, the theatre, opera, ballet and all types of music from classical to popular music. What I love about OH is that you never know who will come through the door so it’s never boring and I love problem-solving.
